Edmonds is the first city in the country to implement new technology at a wastewater treatment facility that eradicates “forever chemicals,” otherwise known as PFAS. Within the next week, the city will start the new system on a 6-month trial run to collect data and train Public Works staff. PFAS are found in hundreds of products: carpets, paints and firefighting foams, among others. Historically, manufacturers used PFAS because they resist grease, oil, water and heat.

The full-scale research, conducted in collaboration with engineering firm Hazen and Sawyer, revealed that Ecoremedy’s proprietary Fluid Lift™ gasification system not only removes PFAS from finished solids but also achieves upwards of 98% total removal or destruction efficiency (RDE) across air, water, and solid outputs with process optimizations.

Continue ReadingEcoremedy has joined Hazen and Sawyer in a groundbreaking study at the Edmonds, Washington wastewater treatment plant project. The results will determine to what degree Ecoremedy’s Fluid Lift Gasification™ system – in combination with the thermal oxidation of syngas – can destroy PFAS in biosolid byproducts and air emissions. Analysis of the testing results is being conducted by Mostardi Platt with faculty and students from Manhattan College and the University at Buffalo.
Continue ReadingEcoremedy celebrated Earth Day in Edmonds, Washington – site of the company’s newest project – by distributing growable planter kits to members of the community who visited the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The event served as a platform to showcase Ecoremedy’s innovative Fluid Lift Gasification™ process that greatly reduces emissions and contributes to a cleaner Puget Sound. The plant’s gasification system is now fully commissioned after logic rewrite and bin/conveyor modifications to meet the city’s desired change to a 24/7 operation.
